Neoclassicism was a movement that flourished between the Renaissance and Romantic period found in architecture, art and jewelry. With regards to jewelry, shell cameos are by far the traditional reflection of that period. A beautiful example here, two women (goddesses?) give water to a traveler from a well. The cameo is larger than commonly seen, 2 x 2.5" and set in a custom made 14K yellow gold bezel that follows the contours of the shell.
