Apollo 10: Flown Flag and Patch Presentation Assembled by Clark McClelland Including 2 Crew Signed Covers with Printed Notes & Provenance. Presentation celebrating Apollo X which was assembled and framed by Clark McClelland who also included brief notes and provenance regarding the pieces in the display.
There is an Apollo X mission patch as well as a US flag patch which were both flown. Further two extremely fine signed Apollo 10 related covers by the Apollo X crew: John Young, Gene Cernan and Tom Stafford. One with the Apollo X emblem the other "Eyes on the Stars" with Snoopy in a helmet skipping happily. McClelland also included a US flag decal which is in between the mission patch and flag.
The hand printed note at center:
"This Apollo X patch and flag accompanied astronauts Thomas Stafford, John Young and Gene Cernan on their historical journey to the moon. The launch was from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. On May 18, 1969. Their safe return to Earth occurred on May 26, 1969 in the Pacific Ocean". Now a bit of hyperbole follows
"The Apollo X mission patch was designed by Clark C. McClelland, Engineer, Kennedy Space Center." Actually most of the credit should go to Gene Cernan and John Young. But a lot of various revisions were submitted and considered ranging from the shape of the emblem to the renderings of the space ship. McClelland always proved an enthusiast of the the graphic art of space missions and contributed frequently.
Condition: Examined in frame, the collection was modestly presented with no custom matting. The back (hilariously) is sealed with strips of duct tape. 13 x 17".
