The Flying Tigers were a group of all volunteer American pilots who fought the Japanese invasion of China. Robert T. Smith (1918-1995) was an American World War II fighter pilot and ace, credited with 9 Japanese aircraft while fighting with the Flying Tigers. He has inscribed and signed to Clark McClelland and there is also a photo of Smith just after signing. There is a lengthy Wikipedia page on R.T. Smith as well as the Flying Tigers.
Photo signed by one of the men rescued by doubling up in a P-51 during WWII both barely fitting in the single seat fighter plane not unlike the famous Marshall/Pierce rescue.
