Wonderful Antique Silver Spice Container, a Besamim, in the Shape of a Pomegranate, Middle 19th Century. A very special example of mid 19th Century silver from Poland. A spice box or a besamim, used during the Havdalah ceremony that would hold cinnamon, clove and nutmeg. Jewish people would smell the spices to remember the Shabbat with the hopes for a fine week to come. The Havdalah ceremony symbolized the break between work and rest. 7.5 x 7.5 x 7.5" and in choice condition. A wonderful addition to any level of collection of vintage/antique Judaica.
