Tiffany & Co. - One TIFFCOIN, Limited Edition 268/499 18K Yellow Gold Token. Rare Collectible from a Marketing Sensation in 2022. On April Fools Day of 2022, Tiffany & Co. staged a humorous hoax via its social media that they were launching their own cryptocurrency. Taking the media by storm it turned out to be an elaborate punk. However, on April 2nd, Tiffany & Co. announced that 499 coins actually do exist and available for only 24 hours at
$9,999.00 each. The promotion sold out in far less time snapped up by fans of Tiffany and the sensation of a hoax/marketing stunt that dominated the financial news.
The coins themselves are in 18K yellow gold, spectacularly designed and packaged and come with a distinctly Tiffany & Co. folio housing the COA and issue number. 34.8 mm in diameter, 2.8 mm thick and weighs 38.7 grams.
Tiffany's took inspiration for this coin from their gold and silver coins the made available to buy jewelry in the latter half of the 20th Century. But as noted in their original issue of the TiffCoins:
