Tiffany Furnaces, Inc (Tiffany & Co.) Rare Desk Clock with Enamel and Painated Bronze. Keeps Perfect Time, Choice Condition ca. 1900. Tiffany Furnaces, Inc., an early in-house design and production offshoot headed by Louis Comfort Tiffany around 1903. Tiffany added enamel work to his firm's repertoire, and later, ceramics. He continued to advance the use of Favrile glass, designing glass mosaics for use in interior settings, innovating as he did with new technique. To protect his techniques in glass from prying eyes as well as his designs, he set up Tiffany Furnaces Inc. in Queens. Offered is a desk clock, very much in the Arts and Crafts movement from Tiffany Furnaces. A deeply patinated bronze with enamel work in shades of greens and accented in orange at the corners.
The clock mechanism is also from a storied US company, Chelsea Clockworks in Boston. Clock keeps perfect time, wind-up mechanism with original key.
