(1852-1940) Three autographed letters signed by Edwin Markham, a poet of great popularity of the first half of the 20th Century. Markham's most famous poem, "The Man with the Hoe," which accented laborers' hardships, was first presented at a public poetry reading in 1898 and hit with a thunderclap opening doors and lecture opportunities. Offered are three, very congenial letters declining an invitation to lecture, committing to a march for hunger in Atlantic City and committing to an invitation late with each having Markham's impressive signature.
