18th Century French Small Sword in Excellent Condition. Beautiful example of a late 18th Century French small sword. The blade measures 33" in length with foliate inlays on obverse and reverse near base of sword. There are no hallmarks. The sword was designed for thrusting not cutting. The shell or coquille is a very ornate double clamshell hand guard and the grip is of tightly wound wire. The knuckle-bow is also quite ornate and deigned to protect the knuckles while sparring. Total overall length is 39". Again, this short sword displays very nicely. Estimated Value $700 - 1,200
